Milan’s fashion calendar is not only about established labels and front-row celebrities. Some of its most interesting ideas come from designers who have yet to launch a brand, find a showroom or make their first commercial collection. Fashion Graduate Italia puts those emerging voices in the spotlight, offering a look at the talent preparing to shape the industry’s next chapter.
The twelfth edition takes place from 27 to 29 October 2026 at BASE Milano in the Tortona design district. Organised by Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda ETS, the event brings together Italian fashion schools and international participants for three days of graduate runway shows, exhibitions and conversations about careers in fashion.
Speak Up! Fashion with something to say
This year’s theme, Speak Up!, asks young creatives to consider what fashion can communicate beyond appearance. Identity, cultural difference, social change and environmental responsibility all provide starting points for work that is both expressive and relevant. The message is not simply to be louder, but to develop an informed point of view and the confidence to share it.
For visitors, that makes the event especially appealing. Graduate collections tend to be more exploratory than commercial runway presentations. Without the same pressure to satisfy an established customer, students can experiment with silhouette, materials, construction and storytelling. Not every idea is destined for a shop window, but that is precisely why these shows are worth watching.
Three days of emerging design
The programme opened on Tuesday 27 October with the international Talent to Talent showcase, followed by presentations from Istituto Marangoni Milano, LABA Firenze, Domus Academy and Accademia Costume & Moda. The international component adds an important perspective, placing Italy’s fashion education in conversation with emerging creativity from beyond its borders.
Wednesday 28 October features runway shows by Istituto Secoli, HARIM Academy, Next Fashion School, IED, IAAD. and Raffles Milano. The day concludes with a 5 pm talk featuring designer John Richmond, exploring the journey from subcultures to a global fashion brand. Moderating is Elisa Pervinca Bellini, Fashion News Director and Sustainability Editor at Vogue Italia.
The final day, Thursday 29 October, introduces collections from AFOL Moda, Ferrari Fashion School, Accademia IUAD, Istituto Modartech, Accademia del Lusso and NABA. A 1 pm panel, Create Your Own Path, examines ways of building a fashion career beyond conventional professional routes.

Beyond the runway
Fashion Graduate Italia is also an opportunity to understand how designers are trained and what it takes to enter a complex international industry. An exhibition area at BASE Milano presents projects and installations from participating schools, giving visitors a closer look at the research and creative thinking behind the finished garments. The organisers also highlight an area dedicated to independent magazines, bringing fashion publishing into the conversation.
Portfolio reviews and professional discussions help participating students consider the practical side of building a career. Ahead of the three-day event, a digital programme of workshops and lectures for secondary-school students and teachers explored subjects ranging from styling and textile design to trend forecasting and the use of artificial intelligence in fashion imagery.
This broader approach matters. Fashion depends on many professions beyond the designer whose name appears on a label: pattern cutters, textile specialists, stylists, communicators and creative managers all contribute to turning an idea into a collection and a sustainable business. By showing the breadth of that ecosystem, Fashion Graduate Italia offers prospective students a useful introduction to the possibilities of the industry.
How to follow Fashion Graduate Italia 2026
The event is held at BASE Milano, Via Tortona 54, with entrance through Gate I. Admission to individual in-person activities requires a confirmed, named invitation through the Fashion Graduate Italia community. The deadline for new invitation requests was Monday 26 October, so visitors without an existing confirmation should not assume walk-in access.
There is still a way to watch: the organizers are live streaming the runway shows and talk on the official website. For anyone interested in fashion education, emerging designers or simply discovering where Italian style might go next, it is a revealing alternative to the familiar spectacle of Milan Fashion Week.
