Milan's Cinque Vie district has a new address for contemporary photography. LOOP opens on Thursday, 29 October 2026, at Via Santa Marta 6, introducing a gallery and cultural project developed by Deodato Arte. The inaugural exhibition, Still Wild, marks the first solo show in Italy by South African wildlife photographer Chris Fallows.

The opening adds another dimension to an area already known for its art, independent boutiques and design studios. Rather than limiting itself to displaying and selling photographs, LOOP plans a programme of exhibitions, conversations, workshops and collaborations examining how images intersect with culture, design and innovation.

A New Space for Photographic Culture

The project is led by curator Melissa Camilli, whose experience includes photography projects involving Steve McCurry, Elliott Erwitt, Zanele Muholi and Michael Yamashita. LOOP aims to welcome established collectors and photographers as well as visitors who are simply curious about contemporary visual culture.

Deodato Group has announced Identità. Il mondo che ci abita (Identity: The World That Inhabits Us) as the guiding theme for the gallery's first year. It will consider how photography participates in the formation of identity and influences the way we understand ourselves and the world around us.

Among the names connected to LOOP's developing programme are photographer Haris Nukem and the creative duo Anna Devís and Daniel Rueda. They join artists already represented by Deodato Arte, including David LaChapelle, Marco Glaviano, Liu Bolin and Jacopo di Cera.

Opening Exhibition: Still Wild by Chris Fallows

For its debut, LOOP turns from the urban landscape to the natural world. Still Wild presents nine large-format photographs by Chris Fallows, a photographer and conservationist known for his patient observation of wildlife, particularly the great white sharks of South Africa.

The subjects range from elephants and lions to whales and sharks. In Defiance, an elephant matriarch leads her herd; After the Fall, The Rise captures a whale's tail rising above the ocean; and The Inquisition confronts the viewer with the direct gaze of three lionesses. The photographs invite both admiration for the animals and reflection on the ecosystems in which they live.

It is a fitting opening statement for a gallery interested in photography as more than decoration. The images are visually striking, but the broader subject is our relationship with nature and the responsibility of preserving biodiversity.
