NEW: From Friday, 29 November, ‘Do Si La Sol Fa Sofà‘, the highly anticipated new album of unreleased songs by the Fidanza Jazz Combo, will be available in physical format and in all digital stores, offering fans a unique collection of their innovative sound that blends traditional jazz with contemporary influences. This album not only showcases their exceptional artistry and creativity but also reflects the band’s journey and evolution over the years, making it a must-have for both long-time supporters and new listeners alike. The single ‘La Tazzina di Caffè’, a slow and sensual song with a subtle poetic ambiguity, has already gained popularity on the radio. Today, the band releases their new album, which consists of 11 original songs united by a creative vintage irony and the ancient yet timeless flavour of Italian swing.

THE NEW ALBUM ‘DO SI LA SOL FA SOFÁ’

‘ Do Si La Sol Fa Sofà’is a personal almanac in which objects and characters fill many musical pictures coming to life in the form of a song. ‘La Tazzina di Caffè‘ wakes you up and prepares you for the journey, and ‘L’Armadio‘ offers the palette to dress up the day.

  • La Piega‘ celebrates the perfect aplomb, which only ‘La multa‘, in the historic Fiat 500, manages to barely crease.
  • The Frigidaire‘ is a metaphorical alcove that takes us from culinary disagreement to ‘The Tibetan Singer‘.
  • La Vespa‘ gives off fiery emotions, which only ‘Cirio’s cuisine‘ can temper.

With ‘The Brothers Gershwin‘ on the gramophone, ‘The Sofa‘ welcomes us on the journey, which lasts a record or an entire day.

“I wrote a record that talks about stories, situations, objects, and characters, all real, in which description and narration have the same importance as music, as is not always the case in jazz,” said songwriter and composer Fabio Fidanza. Fabio Fidanza writes the songs with a timeless quality, honoring the jazz tradition without resorting to conventions, firmly believing that swing remains a vibrant genre.

The authors Fabio Fidanza (vocals and guitar), Dario Di Giammartino (drums), Toni Fidanza (piano and arrangements), Tommaso Paolone (double bass), Fabrizio Mandolini (soprano, alto, and tenor sax), Alessandro Di Bonaventura (trumpet), Riccardo Maggitti (tenor sax), and Francesco Di Giulio (trombone) perform the songs in ‘Do Si La Sol Fa Sofà.

WHO IS THE FIDANZA JAZZ COMBO?

The Fidanza Jazz Combo was born from Fabio Fidanza’s in-depth research on the fascinating interplay between Italian music and American swing, which has led to a unique fusion of styles. The repertoire winds through a rich tapestry of Italian classics from the 1920s to the 1950s, celebrating iconic artists such as Natalino Otto and Quartetto Cetra, whose melodies capture the essence of a bygone era, while simultaneously incorporating the vibrant American songs of the same period, spanning the genius compositions of George Gershwin to the smooth vocal stylings of Nat King Cole. This combination serves as a tribute to the cultural exchange that occurred during this dynamic time in music history, allowing audiences to experience the joy and creativity that emerged when these two rich musical traditions intersected. The Fidanza Jazz Combo not only honors these historical influences but also reinvigorates them, creating a sound that resonates with contemporary listeners while preserving the authenticity of the original works.

Their concerts feature original songs reflecting the golden age of swing, fostering a unique connection with the audience through a lesser-known yet recognizable repertoire of musical heritage, highlighted by the humorous narrative of the Italy-U.S. musical relationship.

In 2024, they released the album ‘No Jazz Omaggio a Natalino Otto‘ and ‘Do Si La Sol Fa Sofà‘, their first album of unreleased songs.
