News from Milan: In a significant shift in leadership, Kering has announced the appointment of Stefano Cantino as the new CEO of Gucci, effective January 1, 2025. Cantino, who joined Gucci in May 2024 as Deputy CEO, will now take the reins from Jean-François Palus, marking a new chapter for the iconic luxury brand. Reporting to Francesca Bellettini, Kering's Deputy CEO for Brand Development, Cantino is poised to lead Gucci into a new era of creativity and innovation.
A Seamless Transition
Jean-François Palus, who took over as CEO in July 2023, was tasked with laying the foundation for Gucci’s future, particularly during a challenging period for the brand. His main goal was to position the house for its next phase of growth and success while carefully selecting key talents, including his successor, Stefano Cantino.
Francesca Bellettini expressed her gratitude to Palus, saying, “I am deeply grateful to Jean-François for his dedication and loyalty to Gucci over this transitional period. I am confident that, building on what has been set up over the past 15 months, Stefano and the Gucci team will succeed in the mission to take Gucci back to the leadership the brand deserves.”
Kering’s Chairman and CEO, François-Henri Pinault, also praised Palus for his leadership, stating, “Over a particularly challenging period, he made the courageous decisions the House needed and built sound foundations for a renewed Gucci to flourish again under the stewardship of Stefano.”
