The 2024 look was unveiled last year in Milan during the presentation of the Emporio Armani men’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection, the EA7 Emporio Armani uniforms for Italy’s athletes. The presentation took place at the Armani/Teatro, where athletes such as Simone Giannelli, Daniele Lavia, Paola Egonu, Sarah Fahr (volleyball), Letizia Paternoster (cycling), Alessia Maurelli (rhythmic gymnastics), and six Paralympic athletes from various disciplines showcased the specially designed outfits for the most significant sporting event of the Olympic quadrennium.
The wardrobe, crafted in the elegant and distinctive ‘Armani blue,’ includes the iconic podium tracksuit featuring the bold ‘W Italia’ (Viva Italia/Win Italy) inscription across the front of the sweatshirt, with each letter meticulously embroidered as satin patches using contrasting thread. The inside collars of the polo shirts and T-shirts carry the opening lines of the Italian national anthem, while the first stanza is printed inside the jackets. Complementing the ensemble are trolley bags, backpacks, caps, and sneakers, completing the look with a touch of sophisticated practicality.
“My partnership with CONI began in 2012 and continues with mutual satisfaction. I always find it stimulating to seek new solutions for athletes’ uniforms, which must blend elegance of style with practical usability. For the Italy Team in Paris, I have created functional yet elegant pieces designed to distinguish the team and convey a strong sense of belonging to our athletes,” stated Giorgio Armani in the CONI press release.
The distinguished designer will also be crafting the official uniforms that the athletes will don during the opening ceremony along the Seine River on July 26, 2024. This collaboration between Armani and the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) and the Italian Paralympic Committee (CIP) will extend until the Winter Games in Milan-Cortina 2026.
Inspired by the garments worn by the Italy Team in Paris, a special collection will be available at selected Emporio Armani stores, multi-brand retailers, and online starting from April 2024. This collection allows fans and fashion enthusiasts alike to own a piece of Olympic elegance, celebrating the blend of high fashion and athletic excellence that Giorgio Armani so masterfully creates.
In the world of sports and fashion, Giorgio Armani continues to redefine what it means to dress for success, bringing an unparalleled sense of style and national pride to Italy’s finest athletes as they compete on the world stage.
