Trainline Challenges the Milanese to Seek Nature Beyond the Vertical Forest

Trainline, the app for train and bus ticket bookings, has launched a thought-provoking billboard campaign in Milan, strategically placing it at Garibaldi Station near the iconic Bosco Verticale.

The iconic buildings designed by Stefano Boeri are a symbol of modern Milanese architecture featuring two striking residential towers adorned with over 20,000 plants, embodying the city's commitment to sustainable urban living.

The campaign by Dude, with its captivating tagline “I veri boschi non sono verticali” (“Real forests aren't vertical”), invites Milanese residents to venture beyond this celebrated architectural landmark and discover Italy’s natural beauty by train.

Although Milan offers its own green sanctuaries such as Parco Sempione, Parco Portello, and Giardini Pubblici Indro Montanelli, the message is clear: there's a whole world of nature waiting to be explored just outside the city. With Trainline's efficient booking platform, embracing sustainable travel and exploring Italy's lush countryside has never been easier.

Traveling by train in Italy is not only an ecological and economical choice but also a comfortable and convenient one.

On intercity routes, travelers can opt for business or first-class upgrades for a more comfortable (and quiet) experience.

Trains provide a stress-free alternative to navigating Italy’s often-congested roads, allowing passengers to enjoy the journey rather than worry about traffic. Apart from occasional strikes or unexpected disruptions, Italy’s rail network is highly reliable and widely regarded as the easiest way to travel across the country.

Green Escapes Accessible by Train from Milan

For those ready to embrace this call to nature, several picturesque destinations are conveniently reachable by train:

  • Lake Como: A 40-minute journey to the town of Como unveils the serene landscapes and charming villages of one of Italy’s most famous lakes.
  • Bergamo: Just under an hour away, Bergamo offers a mix of medieval charm and verdant surroundings, particularly in the historic Città Alta.
  • Lake Maggiore: An hour’s train ride leads to tranquil waters and lush gardens, an ideal retreat for a day trip or a weekend escape.
  • Switzerland: The Swiss border is less than an hour from Milan, and if you love trains, you will enjoy the connection to the famous red Bernina train.

These destinations offer an easy and eco-conscious way for Milanese travelers to immerse themselves in nature, all while leaving the car behind.
