Milan Mourns Giorgio Armani, Legendary Fashion Designer

Monday, September 8th will be a day of mourning for Milan in honor of Giorgio Armani. The fashion industry and the world lost the legendary designer Giorgio Armani, who passed away at the age of 91 on September 4th. The founder, creative director, and CEO of the Armani Group, Armani leaves behind a legacy that has defined Italian fashion for decades. The Armani company, based in Milan, was founded 50 years ago and has since grown to include multiple fashion brands, beauty products, and hotels. Known affectionately as “Re Giorgio“, King George, his keen eye for design and business sense propelled the company to become a multibillion-dollar empire. Armani’s passing is not only a loss for the fashion industry but for the world of business as a whole. In a press release, the Armani Group shared that the designer passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, and continued to work until his final days. He was dedicated to his company and its projects, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire and influence future generations. Remembering Armani Milan, his adopted city, will remember him with a public tribute: the chapel of rest wiil be open Saturday and Sunday Settembre 6-7, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Armani/Teatro (the headquarters of the designer’s empire), at Via Bergognone, 59. As the designer’s express wishes, the funeral will be strictly privately. On Monday, the day of the funeral, Milan (his adopted city) and Piacenza (his birthplace) have declared a day of mourning . The same has been done on Pantelleria, the island where Armani had one of his favorite homes. Throyghout the city, flags will fly at half mast, out of respect.
